Paula Reto edged closer to a finish inside the top 10 on Saturday with her bogey-free four-under-par 68 in the third round of the LPGA Tour’s Maybank Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Having started her tournament with a three-under 69, she followed it with a four-under 68 on Friday with five birdies and a bogey. But her third round had no dropped shots as she picked up birdies on the fifth, 12th, 13th and 16th to move to 11-under par through 54 holes.
She was eight shots behind the leader, Hye-Jin Choi of Korea, who had a third round of five-under 67 to put her at 19-under and four strokes clear of her nearest pursuer, Yan Liu of China. Liu had a 65, and she was, in turn, one clear of third-placed Hannah Green of Australia, who had a 67.
Ashleigh Buhai also had a 67 in her third round. She opened with a 68 and followed it with a one-under 71 in the second round.
World number one Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand was in a share of fourth on 13-under after her third round of seven-under-par 65.
