While the leader shot an historic 59 on Thursday, Dylan Naidoo quietly went about compiling a five-under-par 66 in the first round of the Challenge Tour’s Vierumäki Finnish Challenge at Vierumäki Resort in Finland.
Local Lauri Ruuska made an eagle and 10 birdies on his way to a 12-under-par 59 which gave him a four-stroke edge over two players in a share of second. Naidoo was solid with six birdies and a bogey to be seven strokes off the lead in a share of eighth.
The only other South African in the field was Haydn Porteous, who opened with a level-par 71 to be in a share of 93rd on a day where scoring was clearly very low.
