Jacques Kruyswijk carded a two-under-par 70 on Friday to head into the weekend six shots off the lead in the Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal at Royal Obidos Spa & Golf Resort in Obidos, Portugal.

Kruyswijk made five birdies and three bogeys to move to six-under for the tournament. In the lead was Manuel Elvira of Spain, whose six-under 66 moved him to 12-under and a one-stroke edge over England’s Marco Penge. Frederic Lacroix of France and Italy’s Gregorio de Leo were in a share of third on nine-under. Kruyswijk shared 12th with 10 other players.

Challenge Tour number one Casey Jarvis had a round with six birdies and four bogeys to also card a two-under 70. That took him to four-under and a share of 33rd together with Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith.

Brandon Stone had an eagle, four birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey for his two-under 70, and, at three-under through 36 holes, was in a share of 45th. Keenan Davidse was a shot further back on two-under in a share of 59th after a 71, together with Martin Vorster, whose level-par 72 saw him make the cut on the number.

Jaco Prinsloo, Tristen Strydom and Darren Fichardt missed the cut, and JJ Senekal withdrew during the second round.
