Hennie du Plessis had one of his best weeks ever on the Official World Golf Ranking as he climbed back inside the world’s top 200 with his share of 10^th at the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour.

His performance gave him a haul of 4.88778 points on the byzantine OWGR system, the ninth-best bag of his career so far behind his 12.80000 for his 2021 third-place finish in the South African Open Championship. It lifted him to 192^nd, inside the top 200 again for the first time since May this year.

The benefit of performing so well in such a prestigious tournament in the company of a substantial number of the world’s top 50 players was significant, and he leapfrogged Oliver Bekker, Ockie Strydom and Erik van Rooyen on the world listings to become South Africa’s sixth-best player according to that list.

Also getting a nice little bump from his performance in the same tournament was Louis de Jager, up 16 places to on the verge of the world’s top 300 in 308^th. Zander Lombard was up two to 260^th after his week at Wentworth too.

Thriston Lawrence, the reigning South African Open champion, was down two spots after missing the cut at Wentworth. He remains South Africa’s top-ranked player at 85^th on the OWGR list.
