Viljoen’s birdie run takes him 6-under in Yeangder TPC in Asia

MJ Viljoen had a run of five consecutive birdies on Thursday in the opening round of the Asian Tour’s Yeangder TPC at Linkou International Golf and Country Club in New Taipei City, Taiwan on his way to a six-under-par 66.

After making birdie on the third, he played on quietly with pars all the way to the turn. Then, from the 10th, he reeled off his five birdies on the trot, and finished the round in a share of eighth place. He was three shots off the lead which was held by Natipong Srithong of Thailand. Srithong led by one from Bjorn Hellgren of Sweden.

Jaco Ahlers had an eagle, six birdies and three bogeys in his five-under-par 67 and a share of 16th. Ian Snyman was a further shot back on four-under in a share of 31st after an eagle, five birdies and three bogeys, together with Jbe’ Kruger who had six birdies and two bogeys.

Neilschietekat battled to a on-over 73 on a low-scoring day and was in a share of 110th.
