Two late bogeys on Sunday saw Brandon Stone slip down the leaderboard, but he still managed to finish in a share of eighth in the Challenge Tour’s Swiss Challenge at Golf Saint Apollinaire in Folgensbourg, France.

The 2016 South African Open champion had made four birdies without dropping a shot all the way to the 15th hole in the final round. At 14-under, he was within striking distance of the summit of the leaderboard, but bogeys on 16 and 17 spiked his guns as he tried to push for victory.

In the end, he finished on 12-under-par, three shots out of the play-off between Swedes Adam Blomme and Jesper Svensson. Blomme pulled off the play-off victory with a bogey on the first extra hole, while Svensson made a double. They were on stroke clear of American Julian Suri, with four players in a share of fourth on 13-under. Stone shared eighth with five other players.

Martin Vorster closed with a level-par 72 to finish in a share of 47th on three-under for the tournament.
