Stacy Bregman opened with a one-under-par 70 on Thursday in the first round of the Ladies European Tour’s Lacoste Ladies Open de France at Golf Barriere in Deauville, France to be in a share of 30th.
It was a steady round from Bregman, with two birdies and a bogey, and she ended the fiirst day of the 54-hole tournament in a share of 30th. The lead was held by Annabel Dimmock and Liz Young of England and Laura Fuenfstueck of Germany. The trio shot six-under-par 65s and were one shot clear of Johanna Gustavsson of Sweden and England’s Meghan MacLaren.
World number five Céline Boutier, a member of last week’s European Solheim Cup team, started her pursuit of a second Lacoste Ladies Open de France title with a one-under 70, to sit in a share of 30th position with Bregman and 14 other players. Amongst those 14 was Nicole Garcia, who had two eagles, three birdies, three bogeys and a triple-bogey in a topsy-turvy round.
Casandra Alexander opened with a one-over-par 72 for a share of 58th. Her card told a tale of two very differing nines: She had a bogey-free front nine of three-under 32, and a back nine of 40 with four bogeys.
