Els climbs to 12th in Furyk & Friends after 2nd round 68

Ernie Els carded a four-under-par 68 on Saturday to climb into a share of 12th place after the second round of the PGA Tour Champions Constellation Furyk & Friends tournament at Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida.

After an opening one-under 71 saw him finish the first round in a share of 27th, Els climbed 15 places with an eagle, three birdies and a bogey. He was on five-under for the tournament ahead of the final round, five strokes behind the leader, Brett Quigley of the United States. Quigley led by one from countryman Jerry Kelly. There were four players in a share of third on seven-under, three strokes off the lead, and five in a share of seventh, one shot ahead of Els.

Els shared 12th with five other players, including Retief Goosen. Goosen opened with a two-under 70, and had a three-under 69 in the second round. Goosen’s second round was bogey-free.
