An eagle on the 17th on Monday saw Cara Gorlei take another big step towards gaining her Ladies European Tour card as she moved into eighth place after three rounds of the five-round Lalla Aicha Q-School Final Stage in Marrakech, Morocco.

She had made two birdies and a bogey up to that point, and the eagle took her to three-under-par 69 for her round on the par-72 Al Maaden Golf Marrakech. At nine-under for the tournament, she was seven shots behind the leader, Nataliya Guseva of Russia. Amateur Shannon Tan of Singapore sits in second place on the leaderboard with a total of 14-under-par. Slovenia’s Ana Belac was in third place on 13-under-par.

At stake for Gorlei, should she finish inside the top 20, is category 12 membership of the Ladies European Tour. Players finished 21st to 50th and ties will gain category 16 membership, and players outside the top 50 and ties get category 19 membership. Any players who make the cut but finish outside the Top 50 and ties will be eligible for LET membership in category 19.

Amateur Danielle du Toit was in a share of 34th on three-under-par after a superb bogey-free 67 on the par-73 Royal Golf De Marrakech.

Lejan Lewthwaite was on one-over in a share of 65th after a four-under 68 in the third round, while Stacy Bregman slumped to a four-over 76 in the third round to slip to a share of 82nd.

Next up for those players is making the cut which will be set to the top 65 and ties after 72 holes.
