Aldrich Potgieter moved to the top of the Korn Ferry Tour standings on his own on Sunday after he finished in a share of 27th in the Panama Championship in Panama City.
Potgieter closed with a level-par 70 in the fourth round to finish the tournament on one-over-par. That put him 13 strokes behind the runaway winner, Isaiah Salinda of the United States, who signed off with a five-under-par 65. At 12-under-par for the tournament, he was eight shots clear of Keenan Huskey and Trent Phillips of the United States and Canada’s Wil Bateman.
There were another two 65s in the final round, and Huskey had a 64, which showed there were some good scores out there.
However, Potgieter made two birdies and two bogeys in his final round for his second consecutive level-par over the weekend. He was in a share of top spot on the rankings after his win in the Bahamas last week, but the points he earned from his finish in Panama took him 27 clear of Salinda and of Germany’s Jeremy Paul, who won the first tournament of the season.
