Christiaan Bezuidenhout carded his second successive two-under-par 69 on Friday to move closer to the top 10 after 36 holes in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Palisades, California.
Bezuidenhout made four birdies and two bogeys to be four-under-par in a share of 11th at the halfway mark of the tournament. He was nine shots off the lead which was held at 13-under-par by Patrick Cantlay of the United States.
Cantlay followed his opening 64 with a 65 to build a five-stroke lead over Luke List of the US, Mackenzie Hughes of Canada and Australian Jason Day.
The round of the day belonged to Rory McIlroy, who had a 66 to climb inside the cut after his opening three-over 74 had left him languishing down the leaderboard.
Tiger Woods withdrew after his opening one-over 72. He had flu-like symptoms, and received treatment, including an IV bag, for potential dehydration and dizziness related to his illness.
