Williams opens with 2-under in Saudi Open on Asian Tour

Robim Williams opened his debut tournament on the Asian Tour with a two-under-par 69 on Wednesday as he finished the first round of the Saudi Open presented by PIF in a share of 17th at Riyadh Golf Club.

Williams made four birdies and two bogeys, with both his dropped shots coming on the homeward nine. He finished the first day four strokes off the lead held by John Catlin of the United States. Catlin led by one from Australian Wade Ormsby, Justin Quiban of the Philippines, Japan’s Tatsunori Shogenji, and veteran Australian Scott Hend. Williams shared 17th with five other players, including former Open champion Henrik Stenson.

Niel Schietekat was a shot behind Williams on one-under in a share of 24th, while Justin Harding was on level-par in a share of 43rd.

Ian Snyman and Jbe’ Kruger were in a share of 55th on one-over, while David Meyers and Jaco Ahlers battled to three-over 74 for a share of 96th.
