Casandra Alexander sliced through the field on Sunday with the low round of the day as her closing five-under-par 67 saw her finish in a share of third in the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF-Korea.

In a fast finish which saw her card seven birdies and two bogeys, she ended up behind a major champion in winner Hyo-Joo Kim of Korea and world number eight Charley Hull of England. Alexander shared third with Mariajo Uribe of Colombia at five-under-par, five shots off the lead, and two behind the runner-up.

Her performance was testimony to her form and her confidence after she carded a 61 in the Sunshine Tour’s Tournament of Champions last week. It also showed she is able to hang in when times get tough after she started the tournament with a one-over 73. She followed that with a one-under 71 in the second round which was interrupted with heavy rains during Saturday, and she followed it with a superlative final round.

Her showing will lift her inside the top 20 of the Order of Merit after five starts, with six of the top 10 above her on the list having started six times or more.

The only other South African to make the cut was Cara Gorlei, and she closed with a two-over 74 for a total of eight-over and a share of 45th as she continues to find her feet on the LET, having gained her card only ahead of this season.
