Dylan Frittelli carded his second round in the 60s on Sunday as he closed out the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois with a four-under-par 67 and a share of 52nd.

After his opening one-under 70 and his second round of six-under 65, his third round of two-over 73 stymied his progress. So his closing 67 was a welcome addition to his total which was nine-under for the week.

He finished up 19 strokes behind the winner, Davis Thompson of the United States, who took his maiden title at 28-under-par with a closing round of seven-under 64. Thompson won by four from PGA Tour University graduate Michael Thorbjornsen. US amateur Luke Clanton and Taiwan’s CT Pan.

Frittelli teed off on the 10th and made two birdies on the front nine. He dropped shots coming home on the fourth and the ninth, but a birdie-eagle-birdie stretch from the fifth to the seventh took him to his final total.
