Jacquin Hess took a share of the first-round lead on Monday with a three-under-par 69 at Modderfontein Golf Club in the first round of the Bushveld Tour’s Blue Label Invitastional #2.
Hess made an eagle on the front nine on the eighth to turn in two-under, and then, after birdies on 10 and 11, dropped a shot on the 12th. He birdied 17 and dropped another shot on the 18th, and his three-under gave him a share of the halfway lead in the 36-hole event with amateur Ethan Gough.
Gough had an eagle, five birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey on his card, and he and Hess led by two from Dylan Naidoo and Phillip Geerts.
There were seven players in a share of fifth on level-par, and there were five players on one-over in a share of 12th.
