Garrick Higgo made an early bogey on Thursday in the first round of the PGA Tour’s 3M Open but he got things back together for a two-under-par 69 in Blaine, Minnesota, to take a share of 46th.
Higgo started on the 10th hole and dropped a shot on the 11th, but he made birdies on 14, four and six to be six strokes off the lead. Up front was Jacob Bridgeman of the United States, whose eight-under had him one in front of Mackenzie Hughes of Canada.
There were three players in a share of third on six-under, and eight players on five-under in a share of sixth.
Dylan Frittelli was also on two-under, but his route there was far more adventurous: He had seven birdies, two bogeys and a triple-bogey seven on his card.
MJ Daffue opened with a two-over 73, while Thriston Lawrence is clearly battling his Open Championship hangover with his first round of four-over 75. Erik van Rooyen also opened with a 75 for a share of 141st.
