Amateur Nathan Schuldt raced to a closing six-under-par 66 on Wednesday to take a one-stroke victory in the Bushveld Tour’s Bushveld Series #9 at Benoni Country Club.
There was a bogey on each of the nines for the GolfRSA National Squad member from Silver Lakes Country Club, but he made three birdies on each nine two, as well as an eagle on the par-four 13th to edge out the in-form professional Warwick Purchase.
Purchase had a closing 67, with his two bogeys on the front nine costing him a shot at victory. English professional Joe Know was third on three-under-par.
Schuldt climbed to 18th on the Order of Merit with just three tournaments to his name, with Purchase riding high in third after six. The leader is Jaden Deltel who has played 11 tournaments.
