After his third-place finish in Japan last week, Shaun Norris went one better in this week’s Fujisankei Classic at the Fujizakura Country Club as the tournament was shortened to 36 holes in the face of extreme weather brought on by Typhoon Shanshan.

His second round had an early bogey on the card at the third hole, and there were birdies on the eighth and 14th which gave him a one-under-par 69. After his opening 64, he finished up on seven-under-par for the tournament. That was two strokes behind the winner, Kensei Hirata of Japan.

The prize-money payout was cut in half due to the shortening of the tournament, but Norris still walked off with over R650,000. That lifts him to 15th on the Order of Merit.
