Amateur Ryan van der Klis made three birdies in his final three holes on Wednesday to pull off a three-shot victory in the Bushveld Tour’s Blue Label Invitational #5 at Glendower Golf Club.
It was his second title in a row in the Blue Label Invitational Series, as he made eight birdies in his final round to come from five shots behind. He also had a double-bogey as he pulled away from fellow amateur Tyran Snyders, who closed with a three-under-par 69 after the pair were in joint-second after the second round of the 54-hole event.
Van der Klis birdied his first two holes and picked up another on the fourth in the final round, before making his double-drop on the par-four seventh. He birdied the par-five eighth as he turned in two-under-par 34. Hi picked up another shot on the 12th, and then came his grandstand finish with birdies on 16, 17 and 18 as he hauled in Snyders. Snyders bogeyed the 17th to fall behind, and he birdied 18.
Van der Klis finished on 12-under-par, with Snyders on nine-under. Paul Boshoff, who led after 36 holes, finished third on eight-under after his closing three-over-par 75. Jaden Deltel was fourth on seven-under after he signed off with an eight-under 64, and Luke Mayo and Tyrone Ryan finished in a share of fifth on six-under-par after matching 70s.
