Justin Walters had a closing bogey on Friday to finish the second round of the Challenge Tour’s Italian Challenge Open at Argentario Golf Club with a one-under-par 70 for a halfway total of seven-under-par.
That put him four strokes off the lead, which was held by England’s Sam Hutsby at 11-under. Hutsby led by two from compatriot John Parry and Spain’s Joel Moscatel. The round was suspended due to darkness with some players still in the hunt for places high up on the leaderboard.
Wilco Nienaber had got his second round done, and signed for a five-under-par 66 to move to five-under for the tournament. Behind him, JC Ritchie still had a hole to play and was on four-under in total after reaching two-under through 17 in the second round.
Louis Albertse carded his second-successive one-under-par 70 and was on two-under, comfortably inside the cut line.
Not so lucky was Rupert Kaminski who had a level-par 71 to be one-over through 36 holes. Bryce Easton slumped to a six-over 77 in the second round and won’t be in action on the weekend.
