Benjamin Follett-Smith of Zimbabwe, a two-time winner of the Sunshine Tour’s Cape Town Open, followed up a superb opening round of seven-under-par 63 with a bogey-free eight-under-par 62 on Thursday in the second round of the Challenge Tour’s D+D REAL Czech Challenge.
With the Royal Beroun Golf Club in the Czech Republic giving the pros plenty of opportunities, Follett-Smith made four birdies on each nine in the second round to climb from third place after the first round into a share of the lead at 15-under-par through 36 holes.
In a share of the lead with him was Maxence Giboudot of France, who had a seven-under 63 in his second round. The pair lead by one from Magnus Haraldur of Iceland and Oliver Lindell of Finland.
The cut fell at five-under-par.
Deon Germishuys made a move inside the top 10 with his second round of six-under-par 64, and, at 10-under, was in a share of ninth.
Bryce Easton’s level-par 70 in the second round doomed him to missing the cut with his three-under total through 36 holes.
