Christo Lamprecht didn’t drop a shot on his way to a seven-under-par 65 on Monday in the second round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club as he took a share of the halfway lead.

The former world number one amateur player says he’s settling into life as a professional, and the security he feels with a set schedule and some hard-won experience of the differences between college golf and professional golf showed as he built on his opening round of four-under-par 68.

While the second round is yet to be completed – some players were through just 10 holes when darkness fell – Lamprecht was in a share of the lead at 11-under-par with American Davis Chatfield. The pair had a one-stroke lead over four players in a share of third on 10-under-par, with a further five players on nine-under. Two of those in a share of seventh had yet to compete their rounds and were through 13 and 15 holes.

Behind those players, MJ Daffue and Barend Botha were projected to miss the cut, which looks set to fall at three-under-par. Daffue was on one-over and had six holes to play, and Botha was on two-over with eight to play.

Garrick Higgo withdrew after his opening level-par 72. He was one of seven players to do so.
