Schaper gets inside top 10 at halfway mark of Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

Jayden Schaper had a three-under-par 69 on Friday in the DP World Tour’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club in Doha, Qatar as he moved into a share of seventh at six-under-par through the halfway mark of the tournament.

Schaper made five birdies and two bogeys in the second round as he moved to within four strokes of the lead. Up front, Brandon Robinson Thompson added a four-under 68 to his opening 66 to move to 10-under and a two-stroke lead over Wenyi Ding and Haotong Li of China and Korea’s MK Kim.

In a share of seventh with Schaper was the veteran Darren Fichardt, who carded a second-round of two-under-par to go with his opening four-under. After a fast start with three birdies in the first five holes, things became somewhat more difficult, and he made five bogeys and four more birdies one the way home.

Casey Jarvis had a one-over-par 73 as he moved to two-under through 36 holes and a share of 34th.

Ryan van Velzen and Wilco Nienaber made the cut on the number at one-under after rounds of two-under-par 70 each.
