Dean Burmester made six birdies on Saturday in his second round on his way to a three-under-par 67 in LIV Golf Hong Kong at Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling as he climbed one place into a share of seventh.
In the shotgun start format of the 54-hole event, Burmester started his second round on the 18th hole, and he picked up birdies on the second and third. He dropped the first of three shots on the fourth, and he made further bogeys on eight and nine. But there were four more birdies, on the sixth, 10th, 13th and 15th.
He reached seven-under-par for the tournament with his second round. That put him four strokes off the three-way share of the lead at 11-under. Peter Uihlein of the United States, England’s Paul Casey and Sergio Garcia of Spain shared the lead after rounds of six-under, four-under and six-under respectively. They led by three from Mito Pereira, Phil Mickelson and Sebastian Munoz.
Louis Oosthuizen had a five-under 65 to move into a share of 22nd on four-under together with Branden Grace, who had a four-under in the second round. Charl Schwartzel was also in a share of 22nd after his second round of three-under-par 67.
The South African team, Stinger GC, had a good day, and were in sixth place on 19-under. That was six back from the leaders, Torque GC, with Jon Rahm’s Legion GC in second on 23-under.
