Jaco Prinsloo led 10 qualifiers through to the Sunshine Tour’s KitKat Cash and Carry Pro-Am when he carded a six-under-par 66 at Irene Country Club on Tuesday.
Despite a bogey on the front nine and two on the back nine, Prinsloo, a four-time winner on the tour, made nine birdies as he finished on stroke ahead of Jacquin Hess. Hess had just one dropped shot on his card for his five-under-par 67.
Tyrone Ryan and Frenchman Pierre Viallaneix shared third on four-under-par.
There was a 10-way play-off for the remaining six places with all those players who had finished on three-under-par. Going through were American Hunter Epson, Liam Grehand of Ireland, Eric Wowor, Luke Mayo, Christiaan Basson, Siyanda Mwandla and Albert Venter.
Those 10 players all go into the 120-man field which tees off in the main tournament on Thursday, also at Irene Country Club.
