Despite a tough closing nine on one-over-par on Sunday, Aldrich Potgieter managed to pull off a top-10 finish in the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Potgieter made four birdies and a bogey on his front nine to turn in three-under, but a bogey on the 10th heralded his problems on the back nine. He did make two birdies – on 13 and 18 – but he dropped two more shots on 15 and 17 on his way to a tournament total of seven-under-par with his final round of two-under 68.

He finished in a share of sixth place, five strokes behind the winner, Ben Griffin of the United States. Griffin’s 12-under total was one clear of Matti Schmid of Germany, with American Bud Cauley taking third place on nine-under.

Potgieter’s finish projects him to rise nine places on the FedEx Cup rankings to 67th.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout carded his third round of one-under-par 69 for the week to finish in a share of 16th on five-under-par.

Erik van Rooyen’s yo-yo week finished with a five-under-par 65, to go with his opening 75, his second round of 64 and his third round of 74. He finished the week on two-under in a share of 36th.
