Jayden Schaper made an early bogey on Thursday, but an eagle just two holes later saw him to an opening round of three-under-par 67 in the DP World Tour’s Austrian Alpine Open at Gut Altentann Golf Club in Salzburg, Austria.

He started his round on the 10th, and reached his turn at one-under after the eagle on the 16th. He made three birdies in a row immediately after the turn from the first, and then bogeyed the seventh as he finished the first round in a share of eighth.

Up front, Marcel Schneider of Germany also started on the 10th, and me made five birdies without dropping a shot to turn in 30. A bogey, and eagle and a final-hole birdie completed his scoring, and he held a two-stroke lead at seven-under-par. Nicolai von Dellinghausen of Germany and Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts shared second on five-under.

There were four players on four-under in a share of fourth, and 12 other players shared eighth with Scheper. Amongst those players was Brandon Stone, who had four birdies and a bogey on his card for his 67.

Richard Sterne was a shot back on two-under in a share of 21st, while Zander Lombard and Jacques Kruyswijk were in a share of 40th on one-under-par.
