Louis Oosthuizen lost out on the first extra hole on Sunday in a four-way play-off for the title in the LIV Golf Dallas event at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.

Patrick Reed made birdie on the 18th in the play-off to defeat the 2010 Open champion Oosthuizen, Japan’s Jinichiro Kozuma and Paul Casey of England after the quartet had all finished on six-under-par for the 54-hole event.

Oosthuizen had closed with a four-under-par 68 with five birdies and a bogey in his final round to get into the play-off after his first two rounds of one-under-par 71 each. That helped him draw level with Reed, who had battled to a third round of three-over 75.

One shot behind Oosthuizen and the other two were Charles Howell III, Tyrrell Hatton, Harold Varner III and Tom McKibbin in a share of fifth on five-under.

Dean Burmester finished on level-par in a share of 19th, while Charl Schwartzel was on one-over in a share of 21st. Branden Grace was on two-over in a share of 23rd.

The South African team, Stinger GC, finished fourth behind the winners, Crushers GC.
