Garrick Higgo rounded out another solid week on the PGA Tour on Sunday as he finished off the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, with a closing five-under-par 66 for a share of 27th.

It was Higgo’s best round of the week after his first-round 67, and it lifted him to 12-under-par for the tournament. That put him six shots out of the play-off between Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo and American Brian Campbell. Campbell took his second title of the year on the first extra hole.

Higgo made six birdies and a bogey in his final round, after starting with four birdies in the first six holes. He dropped a shot on the ninth when he found a greenside bunker with his approach, and was unable to get up and down for par after he rammed his first putt from inside nine feet three feet past the hole.

The only other South African to make the cut – Aldrich Potgieter got to the weekend but withdrew after his third round – was Thriston Lawrence. Lawrence carded an even-par 71 for the final round and slipped 12 places down the leaderboard into a share of 44th.
