A second-successive six-under-par 65 on Friday helped MJ Daffue into a share of eighth heading into the weekend of the Korn Ferry Tour’s NV5 Invitational at the Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois.

At 12-under, Daffue was just two strokes off the lead which was held by Americans Johnny Keefer, Jeffrey Kang and Cooper Dossey at 14-under-par. There were four players in a share of fourth on 13-under, and Daffue shared eighth with six other players. There were seven players on 11-under in a share of 15th.

Daffue started his round on the 10th, and it was a quiet start until he made birdie on 12. It stayed quiet, and he dropped a shot on the 18th ahead of the turn. He gathered himself with seven birdies in a row from the first hole after the turn, but he dropped a second shot on the ninth as he closed out his round.

Christo Lamprecht also had a six-under 65 in the second round as he climbed into a share of 61st on seven-under-par.

Astonishingly, that was the number at which the cut was made. That matched the second-lowest 36-hole cut score (both in terms of total score and score relative to par) in Korn Ferry Tour history.

Barend Botha also made the cut on the number after a second round of three-under-par 68.
