A late double-bogey on Friday saw Danielle du Toit slip into a share of 20th in the Ladies European Tour Access Series Ladies Slovak Golf Open at Tale Ski Golf & Hotel Resort in Brezno, Slovakia.
When Du Toit made the double-drop on the 16th hole, she had made four birdies and three bogeys and looked likely to finish in a share of 12th. Her par-par finish after the double-drop gave her a closing one-over 73.
In the end, her tournament total of five-over-par, after rounds of three-over 75 in the first round and one-over 73 in the second, had her finish nine strokes off the winning total of Finland’s Anna Backman. Backman closed with a level-par 72 to run out a two-stroke winner over Jana Melichova of the Czech Republic, with England’s Gemma Clews and Slovakia’s Katarina Drocarova the only other players under-par at one-under in a share of third.
Du Tout had started her final round impressively with three consecutive birdies from the third hole, but she couldn’t maintain that momentum in a push for a finish higher up on the leaderboard.
