World Golf Hall of Fame member Ernie Els posted a bogey-free 67 on Saturday to take a one-stroke advantage over 18-hole leader Stewart Cink heading into the final round of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren.
While his bogey-free second round of five-under-par 67 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan, was not as good as his opening seven-under-par 65, it nonetheless took him to 12-underr-par for the tournament. He was one stroke clear of Stewart Cink of the United States.
The 55-year-old Els is seeking his eighth win on PGA Tour Champions, and his second of the 2025 season. He won the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in Hawaii on January 18. He entered the week in sixth place on the Charles Schwab Cup standings, and on the back of consecutive top-five finishes in his last two starts. He is also looking to become the fifth multiple winner of the 2025 season, joining Miguel Angel Jiménez (4), Ángel Cabrera (3), Steve Allan (3) and Padraig Harrington (2).
Cink, who is the defending champion in the tournament, is looking for his third win on the PGA Tour Champions in just his 29th start. He entered the week at number two in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.
Retief Goosen was in a share of third after he carded 66, including an eagle on 14, and he enters the final round at 10-under. The 56-year-old seeks his fourth win on PGA Tour Champions, after last winning last season.
