Reece McKain carded a six-under-par 66 on Tuesday to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Bushveld Tour’s Srixon Series #4 at Benoni Country Club.
McKain was bogey-free until the 17th hole, where he dropped his only shot of the day, and he moved to six-under for his 36-hole total.
Ahead of the final round of the 54-hole tournament, amateur Jan-Hendrik Nieuwoudt was in second place on five-under after his second round of level-par 72. He made an eagle, six birdies, six bogeys and a double-bogey in his round.
First-round leader Brandon Peiters carded a five-over-par 75 in the second round, and was in a share of third with LB Boshoff, who, like McKain, had a six-under-par 66 in the second round.
Regan Steyn was in fifth on three-under, and amateur Michael Wallace was sixth on two-under-par.
Sunshine Ladies Tour professional Kaiyuree Moodley added a one-over 73 in the second round to her tally, and, at one-under-par through 36 holes, was in a share of seventh with Jason Froneman.
