Jovan Rebula went bogey-free on his back nine on Thursday on his way to a five-under-par 67 in the first round of the HotelPlanner Tour’s Italian Challenge Open at Golf Nazionale in Sutri, Italy.
He had made two birdies and a bogey on his front nine, before making four birdies on his way in, including two on the last two holes. That was good enough to put him in a share of fifth with 11 others.
The Dutchman Lars van der Vight fired a bogey-free eight-under-par round of 64 to set the early pace, one clear of countryman Lars van Meijel and Englishman Angus Flanagan who will return on Friday with two holes remaining of his opening round after play was suspended due to darkness. Englishman George Bloor moved into third place on six-under-par thanks to five back-nine birdies on day one.
