Jovan Rebula did his chances of earning a DP World Tour card a power of good on Sunday as he finished in a share of eighth in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Hainan Open at Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club on Hainan Island, China.

Rebula shrugged off three bogeys in his final round with an eagle and four birdies on his way to a three-under-par 69. He finished on a total of 12-under-par, five strokes out of the play-off between Austrian Maximilian Steinlechner and Renato Paratore of Italy.

Paratore secured automatic promotion back to the DP World Tour after earning a third win of the season. The Italian produced a dramatic birdie on the 72nd hole to force a play-off with clubhouse leader Steinlechner, before going on to beat the Austrian on the first extra hole. Starting the day three shots back of overnight leader Lars van Meijel, Paratore made six birdies, one eagle and two bogeys to sign for a six-under-par 66 and match Steinlechner’s total of 17-under-par.

Paratore rises three places to third on the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings with Scotsman David Law and South African JC Ritchie occupying the top two spots. With two events remaining on the 2025 Road to Mallorca, Paratore is eager to finish the season as number one.

Rebula climbed two places to 19th on the rankings, and, with the top 20 at the end of the season getting their cards, he will look to finish the next event and the Rolex Grand Final in Mallorca well.

Wilco Nienaber was unable to improve his 27th place on the rankings with his share of 31st, and he will need a good finish next week in the Hangzhou Open and in the final event to get inside the top 20.
