Casey Jarvis ground his way to a closing three-under-par 69 on Sunday as he finished inside the top 10 in the DP World Tour’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at Royal Golf Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In typical Jarvis style, his round had six birdies in it, but it also had three bogeys as he moved to 13-under-par for the tournament and a share of ninth.

He made three bogeys or more in his round for the third time during the tournament, and those 11 dropped shots certainly cost him: He finished four strokes out of the play-off, which was won by Freddy Schott of Germany over Patrick Reed of the United States and Calum Hill of Scotland.

The leaders reached 17-under in regulation play. Reed was eliminated on the first extra hole, and Hill on the second.

Despite all the bogeys, it was still a good week for Jarvis, who was projected to rise seven places on the Race to Dubai rankings to 21st with his performance. For all that, he will feel regretful of his bogey on the closing hole, when his drive found a fairway bunker. He was able to advance it by only 36 yards, and then he left his third nearly 69 feet short of the pin at the front of the green. It was a good two-putt from there for bogey.

Jonathan Broomhead rounded out a good week, closing with a 69 for a share of 13th on 12-under. One stroke behind him in a share of 16th was Hennie du Plessis after his closing one-under-par 71.

Brandon Stone had a three-under 69 to finish in a share of 24th on 10-under, while JC Ritchie’s level-par 72 closing round left him on eight-under in a share of 34th.

Jayden Schaper had an uncharacteristic – but inevitable – bad round of four-over-par 76th to finish on five-under-par in a share of 52nd. He remains at the top of the Race to Dubai rankings, however.
