Casey Jarvis closed with a one-under-par 69 on Sunday to finish in a share of 21st in the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.

In the process, he moved up three places to 82nd on the Official World Golf Ranking list to become South Africa’s top player on that list.

Jarvis had got it to nine-under-par through 11 holes in the final round, and was challenging for a top-10 spot with birdies on the second, seventh and 11th, before a run of three bogeys from the 12th to the 17th saw him slip down the leaderboard.

However, he was able to birdie the last for a solid finish to week of under-par scores throughout.

The championship was won by Tom Kim of Korea, who showed his mastery of links golf and the conditions associated with it ahead of the Open Championship. Kim closed with a six-under-par 64 to lift him to 17-under and a two-stroke victory over Min Woo Lee of Australia.

World number two Rory McIlory matched that closing 64 for the low round of the day, and, but for bogeys on nine and 16, would have been closer to the top of the leaderboard than his eventual share of seventh.

Shaun Norris closed with a three-under 67 to finish in a share of 36th on four-under, while Jacques Kruyswijk had a three-over 73 to finish on level-par in a share of 59th. Hennie du Plessis was one shot further back after his final round of level-par 70 put him in a share of 61st.
