After a triple-bogey seven on his second hole of the day on Thursday, Christiaan Bezuidenhout finished the first round of the PGA Tour’s Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club on three-under-par 68.
Bezuidenhout started his round on the 10th, and he made two more bogeys – on the 16th and 18th – ahead of the turn, as well as three birdies as he went through nine in two-over-par 37.
His closing nine was bogey-free however, and he made five birdies, including three in a row from six to eight.
He was in a share of 17th, five strokes off the lead which was held by Jacob Bridgeman of the United States. Bridgeman’s eight-under 63 was bogey-free, and he led by one from England’s Jordan Smith.
Pierceson Coody, Mac Meissner, Ricky Castillo and Max Home were on a share of third on six-under-par 65.
Aldrich Potgieter battled to an opening 77, which was six-over-par. His round included two double-bogeys, five bogeys and two birdies.
