Casandra Alexander eased her way to a three-under-par 69 on Friday in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Korea Championship at New Korea Country Club.
At four-under-par through the halfway mark of the tournament, the LET number one was five strokes off the lead in a share of 15th, and nicely set to have a tilt at the title with her trademark furious charge over the final two rounds.
With two tour titles to her name this season already, a third would probably sew up the Order of Merit title – if it isn’t already sewn up – and would improve her current world ranking of 24th.
Japan’s Miyu Yamashita sits at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under-par after the major champion followed up her opening round of 67 with a bogey-free four-under 68 on the second day. Sweden’s Louise Rydqvist and Korea’s Sung Hyun Park share second place on seven-under-par after rounds of 67 and 69 respectively.
Alexander made an eagle on the eighth, with birdies on the 13th and 16th. She made a solitary bogey on the par-five 17th. That was much better than the three dropped shots she made in the first round.
Caitlyn Macnab missed the cut after she carded a one-over 73 in the second round.
