Scott Vincent pulled off his eighth top-10 finish of the Japan Golf Tour season on Sunday when he closed the Mynavi ABC Championship with a two-under-par 70 to finish in a share of seventh on 11-under-par.
The Zimbabwean made an eagle, four birdies and four bogeys to finish five shots off the pace of the winner Yusuke Asaji on 16-under. Asaji carded a closing 68 to beat Tomohiro Ishizaka and Mikumu Horikawa by two strokes.
Vincent had a brilliant opening nine, making birdies on three, four and eight, and he had a hole-out eagle two on the seventh. He turned at 14-under for the tournament, and very much in the hunt for what could have been his third victory of the season. But bogeys on 11, 12, 14 and 17 rocked him back on his heels, and a birdie on the par-five 18th rescued his round and kept him inside the top 10.
The performance has him in seventh place on the Japan Golf Tour money list.
Behind him, Shaun Norris signed for a final-round one-under 71 to finish on seven-under for the tournament in a share of 25th. He is in eighth on the money list. Jbe’ Kriger had a three-over 75, and was in a share of 56th on level-par. He is in 86th on the money list.
