Branden Grace opened with a five-under-par 67 on the Plantation Course on Thursday in the first round of the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia, and that left him five shots off the lead.
Grace made an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys, and was in a share of 34th behind the superb first-round total of 10-under-par 60 by Sebastian Munoz of Colombia who made eight birdies and an eagle on the par-70 Seaside Course on his way to a one-stroke lead over Mackenzie Hughes of Canada and Scott Stallings and Chez Reavie of the United States who played on the Plantation Course, and over Zach Johnson of the United States who played on the Seaside Course.
Dawie van der Walt carded a two-under on the Plantation Course for a share of 106th, while Louis Oosthuizen had a one-under 69 on the Seaside Course for a share of 123rd together with Dylan Frittelli who played on the same course.
Rory Sabbatini was subject to a strange disqualification when he reported himself for having a sticker on a fairway wood which he uses on the range for tracking purposes. However, that rendered the club non-conforming for tournament play.
