Christiaan Bezuidenhout made six birdies and two bogeys on Saturday in the third round of the PGA Tour’s American Express on his way to a four-under-par 68 and a share of 31st place going into the final round.
Bezuidenhout was on 10-under-par for the tournament, eight shots off the lead which was shared by Lee Hodges of the United States and France’s Paul Barjon, who shot 64 and 65 respectively to be 18-under-par. They were on clear of Tom Hoge in third with Ireland’s Seamus Power in fourth.
Bezuidenhout started his round on the 10th, and immediately dropped a shot, but he made three birdies from the 11th to the 16th. He dropped his second shot on the 18th ahead of the turn, and then was faultless coming home, with birdies on one and two, and a closing shot gained with birdie on the ninth. That saw him climb 26 spots on the leaderboard.
Dylan Frittelli, Dawie van der Walt and James Hart du Preez all missed the 54-hole cut, as did Rory Sabbatini.
