Oosthuizen finishes 14th in WM Phoenix Open

Louis Oosthuizen finished in a share of 14th on Sunday after he signed for a final-round two-under-par 69 in the PG Tour’s WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona.

It was Oosthuizen’s first tournament of 2022, after he had to spend longer than anticipated back in South Africa as a holiday turned into recovery from Covid for his family. In the final round, He started with a bogey on the first hole, but a birdie on the fourth got him back to level-par. Another drop on the seventh was followed by a birdie on the ninth as he turned in level-par. He dropped a third shot in his round on the 16th, but birdies on 13, 17 and 19 saw him finish on 11-under for the tournament. That was five shots out of the play-off between Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Cantlay, which Scheffler won with a birdie on the third extra hole.

Garrick Higgo closed with a level-par 71 to finish in a share of 21st. He had four bogeys on his front nine and four birdies on his homeward nine.

Slovakia’s Rory Sabbatini had a two-over 73 in the final round for a share of 33rd on seven-under-par.
