Retief Goosen shrugged off the effect of two bogeys on Saturday to card a second successive five-under-par 67 in the second round of the PGA Tour Champions Chubb Classic in Naples, Florida, and move into a share of second.

Goosen dropped shots on the 12th and 14th after starting his round on the 10th, but he made four birdies on that nine, and three on his homeward nine on the front to find himself in a three-way share of second on 10-under-par, two shots behind Bernhard Langer who added a 68 to his opening 64, when he shot his age.

Goosen got off to something of a flyer with consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th, before he had his two bogeys. After his second dropped shot, he immediately got back on the birdie wagon on the 15th, and another on the 18th. He made it three birdies on the bounce with gains on one and two, and his final birdie came on his closing hole, the ninth.

He shared second with American Scott Parel, who signed for an eight-under 64, and with another American, Tim Petrovic, who had a 68. Two shots behind the group in second were Steven Alker of New Zealand and American Jerry Kelly.

Ernie Els had a four-under 68 to climb six places into a share of seventh. David Frost made a one-over 73 to be in a share of 56th on three-over.
