Retief Goosen had a quiet finish on Sunday with a two-under-par 70 taking him to 10-under-par for the tournament and a share of fifth in the PGA Tour Champions Rapsican Systems Classic in Biloxi, Mississippi.
His closing 54-hole total put him eight shots behind the winner, Steven Alker of New Zealand, who closed with seven-under 65 after his second round of 10-under 62 had pulled him clear of the field. Padraig Harrington and Alex Cejka shared second on 12-under, with Bob Estes in fourth on 11-under.
Goosen shared fifth with Americans Ron Labritz and Brandt Jobe after his round of four birdies and a frustrating double-bogey on the 17th. Bur for that reload, he might have been able to finish closer to the top, as he’d reached 12-under for the tournament at that point.
Elsewhere, on the Korn Ferry Tour, MJ Daffue recovered from his poor third round of four-over 76 with a closing two-under 70 to finish in a share of 53rd in level-par in the Club Car Championship in Savannah, Georgia. The tournament was won by TJ Vogel of the United States on 17-under.
