Ian Snyman carded a second successive five-under-par 67 on Friday in the Asian Tour’s and Ladies European Tour’s Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup to move to within just a single shot of the lead at the halfway stage.
It’s the first mixed tournament in the Asian Tour, with 144 players (72 men and 72 women) in the field, taking each other on over 72 holes of stroke play with a cut to the top 60 professionals and ties after 36 holes.
Snyman was bogey-free for his round, picking up a single birdie on the front nine, on the ninth and then making four more on the homeward nine, on the 11th, and then the 14th, 15th and 16th. That 67 put him in a three-way share of third with Bio Kim of South Korea and Phachara Khongwatmai of Thailand. They were one stroke behind joint leaders Sanna Nuutinen of Finland and the LET and the young amateur Ratchanon Chantananuwat of Thailand.
South Africa’s Nicole Garcia was on six-under, five off the lead, after a second-round 68. She shared 21st with Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini, who had a six-under 66. Casandra Alexander had a 67 to be five-under for the tournament, while Keith Horne was on four-under after a second-round 71. Adilson da Silva and Benjamin Follett-Smith both missed the cut.
