Paula Reto made eight birdies on Friday in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give in Michigan on her way to a seven-under 65 and a share of ninth heading in to the weekend.
That took Reto to eight-under for the tournament after her opening one-under 71, and it put her six shots behind the leader, Jennifer Kupcho of the United States, who added a five-under 67 to her opening 63. Kupcho led by two from Nelly Korda, with Spain’s Carlota Ciganda in third on 11-under.
Reto started her round on the 10th, and a birdie on 10 was followed by a par on 11 and a bogey on 13. That was to be the sum of her bogeys for the round, and she rectified things immediately with consecutive birdies on 14 and 15, and another on 18. She really got things going on the front nine on her way in, with birdies on two, four, eight and nine.
Ashleigh Buhai carded a two-over 74 to miss te cut on one-over for the tournament.
