Buhai moves into top 20 in KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

A one-under-par 71 on Friday moved Ashleigh Buhai inside the top 20 at the halfway mark of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

Her three birdies and two bogeys took her to one-under for the tournament, and left her 10 shots behind the leader, In Gee Chun of South Korea. Chun added a three-under 69 to her opening record-equalling 64, and, at 11-under, she leads Lydia Ko of New Zealand by six shots after Ko carded a five-under 67. Also on five-under, six back, was Jennifer Kupcho of the United States. There were four players in a share of fourth on four-under.

After her opening round of two-under-par 70, Paula Reto slipped to a five-over 77 in the second round, leaving her at three-over. She made the cut on the number in a share of 54th.

Buhai made a bogey on the fifth to turn in one-over 37. She picked up two birdies in succession on 10 and 11 immediately after the turn, dropped a shot on the 14th, and birdied the 16th.
