An early eagle on Friday helped get Jayden Schaper right into contention after the second round of the Challenge Tour’s Euram Bank Open in Austria.
The young South African made an eagle-three on the third hole of Golf Club Adamstal in Ramsau, and, in a steady round, made two birdies and a bogey to sign for a three-under-par 67 to go with his opening two-under 69. That put him just three shots behind the lead which was held by Spain’s Emilio Cuartero Blanco, who also had a three-under 67.
Cuartero Blanco held a one-shot lead over amateur Christoph Bleier of Austria, Pierre Pineau of France, and another Spaniard, Borja Vito.
Jacques Blaauw had a one-under 69 in his second round to move to one-under for the tournament and a share of 43rd.
Luke Jerling, Keenan Davidse, Rupert Kaminski and Ruan Conradie all missed the cut.
