Fichardt finishes in top 20 in Cazoo Classic

Darren Fichardt closed with a two-under-par 70 on Sunday to finish the DP World Tour’s Cazoo Classic on seven-under-par and in a share of 20th.

The veteran made four birdies and two bogeys in his closing round to climb four places on the leaderboard and finish seven strokes behind the winner, former SA Open champion Richie Ramsay. Ramsay made three birdies in the last five holes to overhaul and then pull one clear of Paul Waring.

Fichardt dropped shots on the 10th and 12th, and, with birdies on six, 11, 13 and 17, he joined countryman Richard Sterne in 20th after Sterne battled his way to a two-over 72 in the final round and slip from a share of eighth after 54 holes.

JC Ritchie had a fourth round of one-over 73 to finish the tournament on two-over in a share of 46th, while Zander Lombard was one shot further back on one-under after a closing 72. Oliver Bekker had a one-over 73 to finish on three-over, and Wilco Nienaber carded a 74 to finish on six-over.

On the challenge Tour, Deon Germishuys closed out the Big Green Egg German Challenge with a level-par 72 to drop 18 places on the leaderboard to a share of 34th.  Behind him, Ruan Conradie closed with a 73 to be two-over for the tournament in a share of 60th.
